Power of Prayer: Stella and Schuster Baptised After All-Night Prayer!

“Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”
– 1 Kings 18:37

All praise be to God for the miracles that happened this past week in the Sydney church! The power of prayer was evident, as our church-wide All Night Prayer on the night of January 25th again turned the hearts of two Chinese ex-atheists to God. After long hours of prayer through the night, Schuster made the decision to become a Christian and get baptised at the end of the night, greeting the sunrise as a newly reborn disciple of Jesus! Not to be outdone, Stella continued to study the bible every day until she too became a disciple the following Wednesday, back at the place we began our All-Night Prayer just six days prior!

The brothers baptised him at 5 in the morning!

Thank God for giving us this amazing new Chinese brother! Schuster comes from Shenzhen, a big city in southern China near Hong Kong, and now he is a UNSW Foundation student, graduating later this year. Schuster was first invited to bible talk by the his classmate Arm who is also studying the bible. At first he was a little shy, but later on God has changed his heart! Aaron’s send off to Hong Kong demonstrated the great love and relationships within the kingdom of God. He radically changed his attitude towards studying the word of God, learning to deeply love prayer. On making his decision to make Jesus Lord of his life, he profoundly understood that God’s standard is to give up everything, and everything means everything, even returning to China in the future for the sake of the gospel. Congratulations, Schuster!

There was great rejoicing as Schuster walked out of the water!

Stella, a Chinese girl studying her Masters of Accounting in UNSW, where she was reached out through evangelism, has just made Jesus her Lord! God was definitely calling Stella as two disciples reached out to her at different times on campus. Coming from an unbelieving background, Stella was first drawn to the kingdom by the love of the disciples which was evident and unseen from anywhere else in the world. After attending Bible talks consistently, Stella’s curiosity grew and she decided to purchase a Bible of her own and began to read it daily. Through her Bible studies, Stella’s faith began to sprout – but it wasn’t until The Cross study that she was stunned by all that Jesus suffered in order to free her of her sin and she made the decision to live in it no longer. She has a rare understanding of the scriptures and God’s plan for the world especially coming from a non-believing background. She was baptised at Coogee beach after midweek service on January 31st, ending the first month of the year with a great start to a new life in Christ! We are so excited to welcome her into the family!
