Milton, a 33 year old IT professional, had moved from São Paulo, Brazil, to Sydney to seek out out better job opportunities. In his first month in Australia, Milton was met near Central station by the NZ mission team disciples that had been sharing their faith every Saturday. Milton almost immediately started studying the bible with the disciples in the City Ministry after seeing the love the disciples had for one another.
Growing up in São Paulo, Milton was taught at a young age to believe in God. However, he was used to casually attending Catholic and other denominational churches. After studying the bible with the disciples, Milton began to wrestle with big changes he knew he needed to make according to the bible. He was blown away by the fact that no one had ever taught him that a Christian equals a Disciple. The brothers were impressed with how serious he was toward counting the cost and the weight of working through things he decided to repent of. After about two months of wrestling with the scriptures, Milton decided he did not want to wait any longer. Last Saturday he was baptised into Christ and now lives with the brothers in Forest Lodge.
We are so grateful to God to see the first Brazilian added to the Sydney Church! The Sao Paulo ICC and the Rio de Janeiro ICC are rejoicing with the Sydney ICC over Milton’s radical decision to become a Christian and To God be all the Glory!
